What does a GPI Structual guarantee cover?

A structural repair guarantee generally covers defects or problems with the building’s structural elements that arise after a repair has been completed. The exact coverage depends on the wording of the guarantee.

Typically, a GPI Guarantee™ overs:

• Foundations — movement, cracking or failure resulting from the repaired defect.
• Load-bearing walls — significant cracking, movement or structural failure.
• Beams, joists and structural floors — defects affecting their structural integrity.
• Roof structure — rafters, trusses or other structural components, where included.
• Structural cracking or subsidence — where the guarantee specifically relates to the repair of these issues.
• Remedial work required to put a failed repair right — including associated labour and materials.

It usually does not cover ordinary cosmetic issues such as decorating, minor shrinkage cracks, wear and tear, or damage caused by alterations, lack of maintenance, accidental damage or events excluded by the guarantee.
